Thundercomm Collaborates with RidgeRun and AMS OSRAM to Accelerate Mira220 Sensor Evaluation to Product Design on RUBIK Pi 3
[November 23th, 2025] – Thundercomm, a world-leading IoT product and solution provider, has joined forces with RidgeRun to partner with AMS OSRAM, a global leader in optical solutions specializing in sensing, lighting, and visualization technologies for next-generation automotive, industrial, and consumer applications.

To give developers an easier on-ramp, AMS OSRAM selected Thundercomm’s RUBIK Pi 3, a Qualcomm® QCS6490-based development platform offering powerful compute, flexible camera interfaces, and a Yocto-based software stack—ideal for rapid prototyping and evaluation of the Mira220 image sensor.
By combining AMS OSRAM’s industry-leading optical sensing technologies, RidgeRun’s embedded software expertise, and Thundercomm’s flexible and powerful RUBIK Pi 3 platform, the project delivers a production-ready camera driver that accelerates development for machine vision and embedded AI applications.
The Mira220, a 2.2 MP NIR enhanced global shutter image sensor, is designed for high-performance embedded vision, robotics, and industrial AI use cases. RidgeRun successfully integrated the Mira220 camera driver into the RUBIK Pi 3 environment, leveraging comprehensive documentation and close technical collaboration with Thundercomm’s engineering team. The result is a streamlined development experience that helps customers move from proof-of-concept to production faster than ever.
“Working with Thundercomm and AMS OSRAM allowed us to deliver a production-ready camera driver that brings real efficiency to embedded vision developers,” said Jennifer Caballero, Embedded Software Team Lead of RidgeRun. “The RUBIK Pi 3 platform’s flexibility and documentation support made the integration process seamless, helping customers accelerate their AI and vision product development cycles.”
“RUBIK Pi 3 has become a trusted development platform for global developers and solution providers,” said Pier Zhang, Vice President of Thundercomm. “This collaboration further strengthens RUBIK Pi 3’s open, developer-friendly ecosystem and demonstrates how high-performance edge computing platforms can accelerate the journey from sensor evaluation to real-world AI innovation.”
