Thundercomm Launches TurboX EB8 Edge AI Storage-Compute System at embedded world 2026

Nuremberg, Germany — embedded world 2026 — Thundercomm today announced the launch of the TurboX EB8 intelligent storage-compute system at embedded world 2026. Built on the Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ9 Series, TurboX EB8 integrates high-performance AI computing with scalable storage to deliver a unified platform optimized for intelligent video and data-intensive edge scenarios such as NVR and NAS deployments.

TurboX EB8 provides up to 100 TOPS of dense AI computing power alongside advanced video encoding and decoding capabilities, while incorporating high-speed cache and array storage within a single system architecture. By converging compute and storage at the edge, the platform addresses a common industry challenge in which AI processing and data storage are deployed separately, enabling faster, more efficient deployment of scalable edge AI applications.

At its core, TurboX EB8 is powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ9075, featuring an octa-core Kryo Gen 6 CPU with a peak frequency of 2.55 GHz and support for 4K ultra-high-definition video encoding and decoding. The system can locally run mainstream large language models including Llama 2 13B and Qwen 8B/4B while simultaneously supporting multi-channel video processing. Designed for real-world deployments, the device also offers strong environmental adaptability to operate reliably under challenging temperature conditions.

On the hardware side, TurboX EB8 is equipped with 36GB LPDDR5 memory and dual 128GB UFS 3.1 storage, alongside four 3.5-inch HDD bays supporting RAID0, RAID1, and RAID5 configurations, as well as an M.2 NVMe SSD expansion slot. The interface configuration balances flexibility and practicality, featuring eight GMSL camera interfaces, dual DisplayPort outputs, 1× Gigabit Ethernet and 1× 10G Ethernet, multiple USB ports, and CAN and RS485 connectivity for industrial peripherals. The compact chassis measures 139 mm × 94 mm × 240 mm, enabling easy deployment in space-constrained environments while supporting an operating temperature range of 0°C to 50°C.

As a full-stack edge intelligence hub, TurboX EB8 is purpose-built for edge AI workloads. Its fully localized video processing architecture enables second-level alerting based on customizable object or keyword detection, allowing security teams to respond to events in real time without relying on cloud connectivity. The system also supports rapid retrieval of structured video metadata across tens of thousands of records, significantly improving operational efficiency and reducing manual workload. Pre-integrated large language models enable intelligent analysis and local AI inference, empowering edge devices with autonomous decision-making capabilities. Meanwhile, a fully localized data processing pipeline combined with automated periodic data cleanup helps prevent data leakage and supports compliance with privacy regulations across industries.

Leveraging its powerful on-device AI capabilities, Thundercomm also introduced the TurboX EB8 + OpenClaw solution, enabling AI agents to run entirely on-premises with data remaining within the local environment. This architecture delivers faster response times and stronger data privacy.

Across multiple industries, the platform unlocks new intelligent edge applications. In smart security, it supports multi-channel video stream tracking and retrieval, combined with LLM-driven alert analysis to integrate visual tracking with semantic understanding, helping security teams respond to risks with greater precision and speed. In smart retail, computer vision and sensor data can be used to analyze customer traffic, optimize store layouts, and track product engagement time, while AI-powered cameras generate heat maps to help retailers dynamically adjust merchandising and promotion strategies. In smart home environments, the system can connect multiple cameras and sensors to enable intelligent monitoring and automated device coordination, creating a safer and more convenient connected home experience.

To streamline deployment, TurboX EB8 is delivered as a complete out-of-the-box system kit, including the EB8 edge AI host, power adapter and cables, four IP cameras, an 8-port Gigabit PoE switch, HDMI adapters, and camera mounts. This turnkey package significantly reduces deployment time and integration complexity for customers. The platform supports key capabilities such as multi-channel video processing, intelligent alert retrieval, and AI-generated analytical reporting, while the A5 version introduces on-site heat map visualization to further expand application scenarios.

“TurboX EB8 represents an important milestone in Thundercomm’s continued investment in edge AI innovation,” said Dongsheng Cao, CEO of Thundercomm. “With 100 TOPS of dense computing power, rich connectivity, a compact deployment form factor, and a turnkey full-stack solution, TurboX EB8 enables organizations across industries and of all sizes to rapidly unlock the value of edge AI. We see this platform not only as a product, but as a key engine for accelerating the last mile of digital transformation—bringing intelligent computing closer to where data is generated and ushering in a new era of converged storage and AI computing at the edge.”
